Chiropractic is a natural, wholistic way of assessing and treating the human body to relieve pain and improve health. It’s based on the idea that the body is self-regulating and self-healing. The body functions are, in essence, controlled by the brain, through its connections with the spinal cord and nerves that course throughout the body. When the nervous system is not functioning at its peak, the overall performance and health of the human body will be proportionally diminished.
When a vertebral joint becomes tight, misaligned or moves out of its normal position, it is referred to in the chiropractic profession as the Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC). VSC can be caused by a wide range of issues ranging from a minor slip or bump to a car accident or any other trauma. When a vertebrae is subluxated, it can put pressure on nerves, blood vessels and other surrounding structures.
Numerous studies throughout the world have shown that chiropractic treatment, including manipulative therapy and spinal adjustments, is both safe and effective. Many other studies have shown that chiropractic care can be more cost-effective than traditional medical care and can lead to more speedy, longer lasting results.
Although empirical evidence suggests that chiropractic is a safe and effective means of natural healing, a growing body of scientific data supports chiropractic’s effectiveness.
